Fly Agaric

This is the iconic, storybook mushroom frequently depicted in folklore, fairy tales, and video games. It features a bright red cap covered in small, white, wart-like spots, which are actually remnants of a protective veil that covered the fungus when it was young. While visually striking, the Fly Agaric is highly toxic and possesses psychoactive, hallucinogenic properties. It grows natively throughout temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere, forming symbiotic relationships with the roots of trees like birches and pines.
